WebNetworking
Initiating a web presence in the Internet is really very difficult. It takes
a lot of experimentation. Finding our way in this vast universe of unexplored
territory on our own without any experience involves a trial and error method
of proceeding. But it can be done. You just graduate from level to level
of technological knowledge - one which you can obtain through your own initiative.
Let us share how we built this WebNetwork.
Building this PCentral Online Catholic WebNetwork involved these steps:
- joining a list and starting one
- linking the two lists through the description section of each list
- joining a list of webmasters to learn how to make a website
- start building a website and building another as you obtain more knowledge
and confidence
- joining a webring of sites and eventually starting your own
- linking your lists, sites, and webrings through a customized menu bar in
your websites
- writing a blog and eventually writing another as you gain more inspiration
- creating a website that centralizes all your lists, sites, webrings, and
blogs
- linking your websites with site-promoting groups
- submitting your websites to major search engines
The ten ways of proceeding lined up above are just a broad outline of what
was done to produce and construct PCentral Online Catholic WebNetwork. There
are many, many more details that are involved in its building. If really
interested learn some of these ways of proceeding in more detail, two web pages
were created to give this information: Pentecost
Communications Online and Pentecost Central:
The Method. If however, all you need is just to increase
your traffic for your website, you can just be part of this WebNetwork and
contribute your list, blog, website or webring so that the Catholic WebNetwork
can have a greater and better impact for the Internet public. Just send an
email to this address: webauthor@pcentral-online.net
and kindly specify
which part of the network you would like to be part of.
For those who want to try this method and apply it to whatever they want
to venture out into the Internet, I suggest you proceed cautiously at first,
being conservative in the handling of your finances in the project you have
in mind. Only when you see that your work is progressing and growing can you
really decide whether to put more money in the venture. The method we
discovered is meant for a non-profit venture. I do not know whether it
will be applicable for something that is pure business. But for those
who would like to venture out like we did and respond to the call of the
Church to put out into the deep of the Internet to proclaim the gospel
of Christ, then this method of WebNetworking may help you in doing so.
You can suit what steps would be more fitting to your type of mission,
ministry or apostolate on the Web. There is no strict methodical rule as
to what to do step by step. What we give is just a broad outline. You can
fill in the details that are more suiting and fitting to your style of
communicating on the Internet. An additional note of advice: Getting into
this mission venture involves taking some from your family income. If
however, you would want to commit more of your time and resources, you may
need to engage in associate and affiliate programs to obtain a second income
to maintain this mission venture.
