Below is a list and an outline of various
books and material on the subject and
person of the Holy Spirit. The study
of doctrines on the Holy Spirit is called
Pneumatology.
In Western Christianity, most especially
in Catholicism, the least written about of
the three persons of the Trinity, is the
Holy Spirit. However, in preparation of the
Jubilee year last 2000, the year 1998 was
dedicated to the person of the Holy Spirit.
There is a lot of books and material that
were written on the Holy Spirit during this
time. Some of these material is included in
the list given below.
When writing Catholic articles, it would
be good to write much also on the person of the
Holy Spirit. Though there is little written of
Him in our Catholic history, material on the Holy
Spirit is much needed now, not only because of the
need of the charismatic movement for more material,
studies and information on Him, but also because
all Catholics have to be informed that the person
of the Holy Spirit is the One who gives life and
unity to the Church and the Christian communities.
The list given below can help in writing Catholic
articles that will inform people not only about
the person of the Holy Spirit but also about the
gifts and the fruits that He grants to all those
who devote themselves to Him and who most especially
receive Him in the sacraments. He also gives the
graces necessary that Christians may live a life
of virtue. He is known as the Lord and
Giver of Life: the Life-Principle of the
Church.

Encyclical of John Paul II written May 30, 1986
With this list, a lot of content can already be
written about the Holy Spirit. However, this list
is not all inclusive. There are still a lot of
books and material that are not covered by this
list. To keep well rooted in the tradition of
the Church, there are sermons in the non-biblical
readings of the breviary that are about the Holy
Spirit and Pentecost. These are written by many
of the Church Fathers and by many great saints.
To get ideas from them, you can refer to the
breviary. Also, to keep updated of any new books
and material that are written on the Holy Spirit,
it is good to know what other written materials
were prepared for the year of the Holy Spirit
last 1998. The most substantial one that is
really well written and is a veritable source
of orthodox doctrine and truths is the encyclical
written by John Paul II, Dominum et Vivificantem.
This is the most comprehensive work on the subject
and person of the Holy Spirit written in a very
concise and well-structured form.
