"Faith: Key to the Heart of God" by John H. Hampsch

Introduction:
Living in today's world when our humanity is assailed by so many realities that work to destroy and disintegrate the very faith on which our forefathers have fought for and have handed down to us, we need not only a faith that will work out our daily concerns and problems: we need a "supernatural" faith". And for us Christians, we are privileged to have this supernatural faith - based on the promises of Jesus at our baptism. It is a faith of things hoped for even if these things are not clearly seen at the present time (Heb 11:1)

True faith does not give evidence of outward circumstances
The prophet Elijah in the book of Kings, prayed for rain during a great time of drought and when rivers were all terribly drying up. Six times the report said to him that the sky was cloudless (1 Kings 18). But, Elijah insisted in faith; and it did come - by God's power in great torrents. Elijah shows us a good example of belief and trust in God, in spite of appearances.

Believing in God triggers the miracles
To believe in God despite appearances is what triggers the miracle. We are not to rely on our faith, but to rely solely on God. These are the "perks" of having a true faith in the Lord - a supernatural faith, that is.
  • faith acts when the probabilities are minimal
  • faith is uplifting; it carries optimism with it
  • faith does not require a sign for it to come true
  • faith does not depend on feelings - whether you feel good or not - it depends on sterling character
John H. Hampsch, CMF, on "Faith"
Faith: Key to the Heart of God John wrote a book, "Faith: Key to the Heart of God". All the abovementioned pointers on faith are well explained and better explicated in John's book. John is aware of the need for faith in our present generation. He knows that we hunger for the faith that moves mountains and we do not like to settle for faith that only helps us to get out of the bed every morning in order to work and earn a living for the family. This book by John H. Hampsch, CMF, will help capture the Holy Spirit's fire in our soul and lead us to blaze a victory trail in the very context we live our family, professional and lives of ministry.

Below is an outline of the book
  • Dynamic One: The Gift of Faith (Saintly Certitude, High Octane Healing, etc.)
  • Dynamic Two: The Virtue of Faith (Loving the Revealer, Measuring Maturity, etc.)
  • Dynamic Three: The Growth of Faith (God's Cooperation, Our Cooperation, etc.)
  • Dynamic Four: The Prayer of Faith (Supernatural Faith, Success Through Faith, Intelligent Commitment, Survival of the Spiritually Fittest, etc.)
