RE:
Starting An Internet Catholic Mission The Pentecost Central Way
1. Joining and starting an e-group or forum
There are many ways to join an e-group. You can start by finding one that has its category in the Catholic denomination. Once you get the feel of how to be in one forum, you will have the confidence to start your own. Invite those you have met in the forums you have joined.
2. Making a standard homepage and building your own customized websites.
One can start by making a "canned" personal homepage. But to really customize your websites, you will need to study at least HTML - the language of the Web.
3. Joining and creating your own web rings.
Once you get a few sites out there on the Net, you may want to join a ring of websites. As you are able to create more and more substantial websites, you can be ready to start your own ring and invite others to join your ring too.
4. Creating your own web logs.
Creating a blog is also one way of witnessing on the Internet. You need not be a terrific writer or one who is extra exceptional. The world does not need teachers, it believes more in witnesses of Christ!
5. Constantly discovering and finding ways of "making Christ's face seen and Christ's voice heard" over the Internet.
The Internet is a dynamic reality. Sooner or later, there will be something new that will pave for you the opportunity to witness Christ. Don't miss the boat! Grab the opportunity for the greater glory of our Lord and His Church.
6. Having your web-authored mission works listed in directories.
There are some directory lists that will accept your works easily while others are more scrutinizing in their requirements. Choose those that don't give too much obstacles to your mission to make Christ known through the Internet.
7. Linking with other Catholics on the Internet and with those who are open to an ecumenical and interfaith spirit of co-existence on the Net.
The joy of being a missionary in the Internet is finding friends who share the same Catholic vision or Christian principles. Don't be too discriminatory in choosing whom to link with. As long as Christ is the center of each webmaster's vision, link with him or her.
8. Important also is being formed in the spirituality of Pentecost Central by joining and immersing in the posts of our e-groups.
Being a Catholic on the Internet needs some formation. We are blessed and lucky to have the Holy Father John Paul II to give us certain guidelines and principles in how we are to use the Internet as a medium for evangelization. To learn more about the Catholic spirit of being on the Net, come and join our forums! Click on the Pentecost Central Links above to get an idea of what forums we have for this purpose.
